Empowerment Class Activities

Strengths Activities

  1. Daily Strengths Activities:

    • Participants will be provided with journals to make daily entries identifying strengths they apply in their daily lives.

    • Journal entries will be reviewed during program sessions, and participants will discuss how they utilized their strengths.

  2. Strengths Journal:

    • During program sessions, participants will engage in group discussions about the strengths they identified in their journals.

    • Facilitators will guide conversations to explore how participants can further develop and apply their strengths.

  3. Role Model Simulation:

    • Participants will choose one of their identified strengths and simulate the actions or thinking of a role model who embodies that strength.

    • This activity aims to help participants understand how to utilize their strengths in various situations.

Self-esteem Building

  1. Daily Self Discovery:

    • Each morning, participants will write down three things they like or discover about themselves.

    • This daily practice will encourage self-reflection and self-appreciation.

  2. Self-esteem Collage:

    • Participants will create a poster board collage with pictures and words that represent their strengths, achievements, and aspirations.

    • The collage will serve as a visual reminder of their self-worth and uniqueness.

  3. Positive Focus Groups:

    • Participants will form small groups to share positive attributes they admire in each other.

    • This activity fosters a supportive and encouraging environment where participants can appreciate and celebrate each other's strengths.

“About Me” Sentence Completion:

  • Participants will complete sentences that help them identify and articulate their positive characteristics and traits.

  • This exercise promotes self-awareness and self-expression.

  1. Toot Your Horn Exercise:

    • Participants will explore and celebrate what makes them likable, unique, and valuable.

    • This activity boosts self-confidence and self-esteem by encouraging participants to recognize their positive qualities.

  2. Self-esteem Journal:

    • Participants will create and maintain a self-esteem journal, where they can reflect on positive experiences, achievements, and acts of self-care.

    • The journal will serve as a personal resource for building and maintaining self-esteem.

Confidence Building

  1. Creative Expression:

    • Participants will engage in creative activities such as painting, drawing, crafting, or writing.

    • This open-ended activity allows participants to express themselves freely, make mistakes, and build confidence in their creative abilities.

Leadership Development

  1. Understanding Leadership:

    • Participants will learn that leadership involves not only giving directives but also being a team player, a good listener, and an encourager of others.

    • Facilitators will guide discussions on different leadership styles and qualities.

  2. Encouragement to Join Activities:

    • Participants will be encouraged to join sports teams, clubs, or community organizations to develop their leadership skills.

    • Facilitators will provide support and guidance to help participants identify and pursue leadership opportunities.

Inclusion Activities

  • Acceptance and Respect:

  1. Understanding Exclusion:

    • Participants will explore the definition and effects of exclusion, including its impact on individuals and communities.

    • Facilitators will lead discussions on the importance of inclusion and the value of diversity.

  2. Promoting Individuality:

    • Participants will learn how to support individuality, reject in-crowd ideas, and reach out to others who may feel excluded.

    • Through group activities and role-playing exercises, participants will practice inclusive behaviors and develop empathy for others.

    • Participants will examine similarities and differences among themselves and learn to accept and respect each other's unique qualities and experiences.

    • Facilitators will guide discussions on the importance of acceptance, respect, and positive communication.

Empowerment Activities

  1. Product/Service Creation:

    • Participants will collaborate to identify social issues or community needs and develop creative solutions or projects to address them.

    • This activity encourages participants to use their talents, ideas, and passions to make a positive difference in their communities.

  2. Presentation:

    • Participants will present their ideas, projects, and solutions to their peers, family, and community members in a brief presentation.

    • This activity provides participants with an opportunity to practice public speaking, share their achievements, and inspire others to take action.

These comprehensive activities are designed to promote self-awareness, self-esteem, confidence, leadership skills, inclusion, and empowerment among program participants.
